* Online Detention is only practical and possible with the support of parents. Given that it will require the student to be at home, the  parent must be involved and aware of the activity. As such, online detention can take the form of:

  • Early morning (before the start of school), lunch time or after school online counseling sessions with student
  • Early Saturday Morning or After School on Friday or any other week day
  • Student is made to reflect on infractions during sessions
  • Student can be made to look at a YouTube video or read a piece of literature for 30 mins and then have a discussion with supervising teacher on the content
  • Student is made to sit in on an online session with bullied student and school personnel to apologize to bullied student
  • Student is made to complete an online behaviour intervention reflection template to be submitted electronically to parents and form teacher.

The severity of the 1st offence can result in an escalation of the discipline as determined by the school.

In the event where it is impractical to have online detention, provisions can be made for the student to return to school to sit detention or even to attend online classes at the school. This is however, providing all safety protocols can be observed. It is noted that this option may not be feasible for many situations.

Any repeated offence (3 or more times) should be dealt with by any one or all of the following:

  • Mediation sessions with a School Counsellor
  • Temporary removal from school based extra-curricular activities
  • Suspension from school or
  • Expulsion from school if infraction continues or if infraction severely harms any student, teacher or third party in accordance to the National Schools Code of Conduct
